The Painters Group and Central Coast Sculptors Group, both affiliates of San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, present “On and Off the Wall” hosted by Art Center Morro Bay at 835 Main Street, Morro Bay from June 15 to July 30. The exhibit is a collective of intriguing paintings and sculptures in a variety of artistic mediums and styles from traditional and contemporary paintings to thought provoking sculptures.

Art Center Morro Bay also offers “Let’s Rock” in the main gallery. This exhibit contains paintings and photographs showing a perspective of Morro Rock, our town’s iconic landmark.
An artist reception, free and open to the public, will be held at the Art Center on Sunday, June 18 from 2 to 4 p.m.
On June 12 from 3 to 5 p.m. a demonstration by Shirley Horacek that is open free to the public will take place entitled “Watercolor with Mixed Media” utilizing a process called Watercolor using Elegant Writer, colored tissue paper and watercolor crayons.
Members are the heart of the Art Center through the Morro Bay Art Association. The Gallery is a Board run non-profit supported by its 278 members. The Center and all the activities are run by these volunteers and that includes exhibits, receptions, adult and children’s classes, monthly demonstrations, creativity days, workshops, and scholarships. They also put on the outdoor festival Art in the Park on Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day weekends.
Anyone can become a member and exhibit in the galleries. Memberships begin at $30, with Students at $15. Non-members may exhibit at the Art Center by submitting works for each gallery show and paying the non-member entry fees for exhibits, which is just a slight bit more than members’ fees. Works for inclusion in exhibits are reviewed by a judge appointed by the Gallery Director for both members and non-members. A schedule of entry fees, types of art work, and entry policies is available at the Art Center. Information on exhibits, classes, workshops and more is available at or by calling 805-772-2504.
