Create something new at My Studio

New art business opens on Morro Bay Blvd.

Ever wanted to own your own art studio? Well, you can at My Studio, a new business opening in June on Morro Bay Boulevard.
The concept at My Studio is that ownership of the studio is for everyone. Chrys Young and Susan Marsh, both artists, thought this was a new idea that hadn’t happened in Morro Bay yet.
The business is offering the popular Paint and Sip classes where people spend time trying out a variety of local wineries’ vintages and painting a picture. This unusual class idea has people who have never held an artist’s paint brush in their hands completing a painting on a canvas. Marsh, who is an accomplished fine artist and Young, who specializes her skill in artistic tattoos, have combined forces to offer community members a place to come to let loose their artistic muse.
“We plan to hold these classes and a combination of many types of creative activities,” Young said, “for instance mosaics and other types of art.”
One of the things that will be forthcoming is a way to do a painting of your pet. The idea will involve using a photograph of a dog or cat that Young will scan and print onto a canvas. Then the student will learn how to embellish the canvas with paints. “to begin with we will practice with photos of any animal,” young said, “and then eventually do portraits of the class member’s pets.”
“We also will offer the shop as a meeting place for groups that need a larger space than they might already have,” Young said. This of course will be for a reasonable fee.
Pop-up-Parties and another activity the studio is hoping to hold. My Studios has already hosted a Pop-Up Party during the recent Car Show and looks forward to being able to host more.
Young and Marsh plan to go out to area wineries that would be interested in joining them for the Paint and Sip Parties and they will photograph the winery, scan and print the image on canvas and have the class paint it.
As things progress residents will be able to use the space to bring in their projects in order to complete them. “Many people don’t have room in their homes for a real art studio,” Young said, “this can become their studio.”
My Studio is located at 515 Morro Bay Blvd. in Morro Bay.
