MORRO BAY — “Consequential Conversations” is the title of By the Sea Productions first Readers Theatre show of the season. The performance will consist of eight short plays, ranging from 5-25 minutes in length.
“As we considered plays for this year, we found a number of interesting one-acts, several with similar themes, and decided they would make an enjoyable program,” said Janice Peters, BTSP board member. “We also have new people interested in directing for us, and this offers them an opportunity, so we have six directors working on the show.”
The plays include the musings of a former child star, now a waitress; divorcees who meet again; several couples whose conversations overlap in a train station; the frustrations of 1-800 calls; an older woman and her nephew discussing end of life decisions; a woman and her gay son on his wedding day; an elderly couple reminiscing; and monks interviewing a novice about the meaning of life. The conversations range from funny to serious to poignant, and all are…consequential.
“Consequential Conversations” plays for two weekends, March 22-24 and 29-31, at 545 Shasta Ave., Morro Bay. Tickets are $10. For ticket reservations, visit bytheseaproductions.org or call 805-776-3287.
